“Your Blondie toffee should be added to the food pyramid as a required category just to put a smile on faces every day.” – Tap, customer in Utah.

This is just one of the many delightful things customers have to say about Cache Toffee, showing that their success isn’t just a coincidence. There’s a reason why their 11 varieties of toffee, all handcrafted to perfection, are so beloved by everyone who tries them.

Interested in learning just how Cache Toffee came to be so successful? Let’s uncover their roots and learn more about them and their founder, Lori Darr.

How It All Began – Lori Learns From Her Mother

Toffee was a mainstay in Lori’s household, as her mother would make tons of it for family and friends for birthdays and other occasions. So there would always be toffee sitting around in their home for anyone to enjoy.

But Lori didn’t actually learn how to make this toffee from her mother until she was in junior high. Until then, she enjoyed the toffee as a given, but wasn’t taught how to create this delicious concoction.

Once taught, she lost interest or was too busy for a while until she had her own place (after college). At that point, she started making toffee again.

Lori lived in Utah at this point, and she realized that the toffee recipe her mother had given her didn’t work at such a high altitude.

Experimenting to Make the Recipe Work

That’s when Lori started experimenting with the recipe to ensure that it worked and tasted exactly as her mother’s toffee did, despite the high altitude.

Once she got it, there was no turning back for this toffee business. People in her circle absolutely loved the toffee. Remember that Lori was doing this toffee thing just as a side gig, as she worked in the medical field for 38 years.

But the toffee became so popular that she couldn’t help but move into a commercial kitchen and go big.

Using Solstice Chocolate Was Also a Eureka Moment

Another aha moment that Lori had was when she started local Solstice Chocolate (milk chocolate made with beans from Ghana). The chocolate complemented the toffee so well that the combination was delectable and addictive.

Folks loved the toffee even more, and her business boomed from there.

But the idea of making small batches with high-quality ingredients locally never left Lori’s plan. Cache Toffee is so loved and admired as a business because they truly care about handcrafting a delicious product for their customers.
