As part of International Women’s Week, we’re highlighting the amazing women who make Cache Toffee and their experiences with being part of a women-led business. From the first thought-provoking recipe idea to the elegant final packaging, every element of our handcrafted confections is touched by the creativity, passion, and expertise of our women-led team.
Meet the Women of Cache Toffee
Jessica Brown serves as our Administrative Assistant. She enjoys the friendly, caring atmosphere of Cache Toffee and the fact that “we all listen to each other and care what one another thinks.” She also enjoys the creativity at Cache and says, “Packaging often feels like a crafting project as I watch each box beautifully come together. I love the collaboration with coworkers, where we all have the opportunity to feel like our thoughts make a difference.”
Most importantly, she finds working for a woman-owned company empowering and inspiring. Inspired by her mother, Brown says of her mom, “She has always been an example of loving strength. She has always had a level head, but she also enjoys a good laugh. She taught me to work hard and to focus on the things that matter most in life.”
Raquelle Smith does demonstrations and maintains the Cache Toffee kitchen, where she strives to be thorough in her role and finds her coworkers supportive. Founder Lori Darr inspires her “because she makes a big effort to build a more personal relationship with those she is around.”
Brenda Bloomquist cooks our toffee and says the best parts of working at Cache Toffee are “the friendships, product, and flexibility along with a very positive environment where women support women.” She looks to Lori Darr for inspiration “to improve my cooking and creative skills. She’s an amazingly talented woman and wonderful boss.”
Jodi Barton loves “the people, the product, and getting time to escape and cook toffee!”
She most enjoys brainstorming and helping “create the yummiest toffee out there! I will give suggestions and offer my talents when asked or when it looks like something might work better.”
When asked what being part of a women-led business means, she says, “It’s fun to work with everyone here. We all have different ideas, but all work together to make sure everything is working as smoothly as it can. I love how we all help each other out and encourage each others’ strengths.”
Inspired by Emily Belle Freeman, she explains, “She is a woman of faith and encourages everyone to find who we are and be who we need to be and continue each day to get up and keep moving forward.”
Shannon Cook feels empowered by the wonderful women she works with and “takes pride in making our product. I love making it look beautiful.”
Angela Lemmon is a member of the kitchen staff who likes the people and the yummy toffee. “If I have suggestions or concerns, I know that everyone is willing to listen to help make the best product possible.”
