The Beauty of Banana Bread
Banana bread is loved for a reason: it’s easy to make, uses ingredients you probably already have on hand, and fills your kitchen with delicious warmth. And when you top it with chunks of Blondie, something magical happens:
- Creamy banana and caramelized toffee equal a match made in heaven
- Ginger-mango fusion brings a new flavor dimension to your baked goods
- Sweet and crunchy with roasted sesame seeds and lightly salted macadamia nuts
Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups flour
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
- ¾ cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 ½ tsp. baking soda
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 2 ¼ cups sugar
- 2 cups mashed bananas
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 ½ cups roasted and chopped macadamia nuts
Makes two large loaves.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Sift together flour, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Mix and set aside.
- Combine oil and sugar and beat on low for 5 minutes.
- Add eggs and vanilla and beat for 1 minute.
- Stir baking soda into the buttermilk and add to the mixture.
- Add dry ingredients a little at a time. Do not overmix.
- Add bananas and nuts.
- Pour the batter into two loaf pans that have been prepped with baking spray or butter and dusted with flour.
- Place in preheated oven and bake for approximately 1 hour.
- While the bread bakes, chop up 5-6 pieces of Blondie toffee.
- Remove bread from the oven and place on a wire rack. While the bread is slightly cooled, gently press the chopped toffee into the top of each loaf.
- Once the bread has cooled, gently remove it from the pans and enjoy!
How to Serve
Enjoy it warm with a pat of butter, toasted for breakfast, or topped with ice cream for a late-night dessert. It also makes the sweetest gift, especially when paired with a triangle-treat of Blondie.
